There are many things to consider when beginning your home building project. Between securing land and financing to making final floor plan and layout decisions, it can often feel like you’re being pulled in many directions.
Our #1 tip we give to clients when they’re beginning the home building process is to remember their “why” and what, at the end of the day, is truly important to them.
The reason to build a home instead of house hunt is different for each person. Maybe they have a specific location or piece of land they’re looking to build on. Maybe they require a home with specific features, such as accessibility or layout. And, what’s truly important to each person is also different. Some want to match their inspiration photos as closely as possible, enjoying exploring options and making the decisions throughout the journey. Others want to stick as close to their budget as possible. It will be different for everyone.
For certain, one thing will be the same for everyone: there will be unexpected bumps in the road. Just as your favorite HGTV show depicts it – there will be little details here and there that will require a small pivot or design choice. And when those hiccups pop up, it’s important to go back to your “why.” With the right builder, the right Build Team, and the right mindset, your home building process should be exciting and fun. You should look forward to each meeting and walkthrough! You are building a masterpiece.
